I see nothing at all odd about the craigslist add. Am I missing something? Drummer wants to jam with a thoughtful, versatile bass player hungry for gigs.

Apparently the actual ability to be humorous is lost on a lot of the commenters.

I thought it was funny. Some people need to pull the sticks out of their behinds...

Humor, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Sorry you didn't find it funny. There's no reason to crap on what others find funny.

When I used to smoke weed I did not consider it a drug.

I would agree, if anything had been funny up to this point. Amusing? Maybe. Funny...nah.
You're talking this all way too seriously. Apparently humor is lost on you.

Well, I don't think most weed smoking old people who play bass are stereotypically judgmental. Or bitter. If that's what you meant. They usually just fall asleep. If they're not eating something. Or smoking more weed. A little bitter today, are we?

    Are you putting us on?

  13. Interestingly, he seems not so upset about implied weed smoking- that's cool- but saying that ALL weed smokers get the munchies- that is over the top. ( Especially bass players)
At least that seems to be part of the thesis.

Think that poster misunderstood the OP and following responders.

I was initially upset at the stereotyping. But upon further reflection it seems I became the curmudgeon myself.

    Apologies to my bass brothers.

I heard back from the CL guy. He was adamant there were or are no drugs involved - "I would never post anything like that." To the OP - Stop trolling.

    Hi,

I knew you were a good guy, so I had a little fun at your expense. I hope you don't mind. I totally agree that stereotyping is not cool. I got quite a bit of it growing up due to childhood polio, so I know how emotional the response can be.

I've found that almost no matter what you say, there's probably going to be somebody who will take exception on an internet forum of any kind. By all means, here on TB, please say whatever you think at the time, and let the chips fall where they may. Looking forward to more messages from you, brother! Cheers!

I think it's also been lost on the part of many posters (OPs too) who aren't sure if they want to be funny or just troll.

When I read "I really meant that as sarcastic/funny", I think:

Well, that's what emojis are for, and you didn't use any. What did you expect?

Plus, if one has to say "I was joking" or "I really meant that as sarcastic/funny"...it probably wasn't actually funny.
