I was reading through the other post on Warwicks and saw mention of people coming up with alternate PUP/Pre-amp solutions for their Thumb. I have been considering this lately. I love the tone of the thumb overall - the growly low-end and punchy mids are awesome. However, I've found the highs not all that great - clanky and somewhat obnoxious sounding. No matter what I try with my EQ, I can't seem to get the highs where I want them.

I love Bartolini PUPs and they would be my first choice in terms of replacement, but have never heard them on a Thumb. Would I lose the classic Warwick "growl" and do you think it would change the overall tone for the better or worse? Also, I would be interested in hearing opinions on changing pre-amps. I've heard Sadowsky pre-amps are awesome, but don't know much about them. Any ideas here?

Also, any ideas on what I would be looking at in terms of cost?
