I currently use an Ampeg SVT3-PRO/SVT610HLF(4 ohm). I am considering selling the 3PRO to purchase an SVP-PRO preamp, (I love the sound of the tube preamp) and going with some form of poweramp in the 1200 watt range. I am considering this so that I will have room to grow with an additional cab in the near future. I cannot add to this rig because my hands are tied with the 4 ohm limitation.

Would anyone like to help push me over the edge with the decision? How about power amp suggestions?

Carvin and QSC make good poweramps.

If you're not trying to run 4 ohms bridged, the E&W PS-2000 would be my choice. It would give you 1000 watts x 2 @ 4 ohms but there are a lot of very good options available. If you do a search for E&W you will come up with a few good threads that have a lot of info on power amps from various manufacturers.
