Changing tuning post

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by Shomy, Sep 28, 2004.

  1. I'm thinking about changing my tuning post (or whatever they're called) Only ones i know about are Hipshots, but actually don't use too much of Drop D tuning or any other, so which one would be good? The guitar is over 30 years old and it has a Feder-like headstock.

Why do you need to change them?

Pretty much any after-market machine heads are good. Schallers, Gotohs, etc.

I like the Schaller BMs that are fitted to my Stingray. Rock solid.
  3. Well, the tooth of time has done some biting on the vines, so there is some dead movement, and they even tend to buzz at certain notes

To be honest, you'll probably see an improvement with anything you buy.

The Schallers I mentioned would probably look good on your bass, it being an older model

...I'm assuming you're not crazy about keeping it "original"?
  5. Nope, already bought a new strap :D
