This is a near-new, lightly played NS Stick. It's an ash body, wenge neck and turquoise inlays on an ebony fretboard. The action is very low for tapping, plucking, strumming, etc. It has a retractable damper that's easy to move on and off the strings. The sound is beautiful, both clean and overdriven.
It's more than a bass, more than a guitar, it's really it's own instrument. This was $2600 new plus shipping and 9 months wait for the build.

    Details from Stick Enterprises:

Our 8-string stereo multi-mode instrument is a collaboration between Emmett Chapman (creator of the Stick) and Ned Steinberger (creator of the NS Double Bass, Bass Cello and many other instruments). Designed for optimized two-handed tapping, and conventional guitar and bass techniques, this instrument incorporates a number of ideas from both The Stick (Rails®, tapping frets) and the Steinberger bass (knee rest and headless design), as well as some completely new ideas, like a patented retractable damper, and unique side-saddle bridge and nut height adjustment screws.

The bolt-on neck is laminated bamboo or wenge, with our distinctive Stick rear bevel. The body is a choice of beautiful hardwoods with a "soft finish" so the player can really feel the wood, or an optional high gloss clear coat. Choose from natural wood colors or several penetrating dyes and stains. Additional charges for the dyes and clear coat apply.

    Active EMG pickups
Four active EMG pickups, 2 for each set of 4 strings, can be routed in stereo or mono, and have active bass treble and volume controls.

Miss my SB8... this might scratch that itch. Will make a decision in the AM.

The SB8 is a great instrument. The beauty of the NS is that it can be tapped, or strummed/picked like a guitar. Let me know if you have any more questions.

The fact that the SB8 could ONLY be tapped is what's making me consider this. That and the fact that I have three large eating a hole in my wallet... haha.
The blue stain is really nice, by the way.
