Hey guys. I'm looking for a cheep (900 TOPS) 5 String PJ Bass. Preferably shaped like a Fender. Sounds decent please (understandably). If you guys know anything like this, let me know please. I have my own little wish list (three color burst, black pickguard, bound and black blocked maple neck, cheap, sounds fantastic) but that seems a bit like an unrealistic fantasy. I'm looking, but if you guys know of anything similar at all to this let me know. Thanks!

Get a Yamaha BB415. They are usually under $500 and I understand they are very nice. Maybe you can find an old BB5000, they are very high quality but some have very close string spacing.

A BB415 is my main player. I've owned much more expensive basses and the Yamaha is #1.

    Seem like Seymour Duncan's.

What was the wood you used, is that ash?

5 string bridge pup, 4 string neck P. How's the evenness of sound volume between the string using the neck pup?

The problem with Squire 5 string P Bass they don't use the split pickup (uses a single coil like the J bass) that is found on the standard P Bass. I read you can get pickup (Bartolini) in the J bass form factor that is split and sounds like a P bass.
  14. Total +1. This is one of the best bargains out there.

They make a passive version (BB415) and an active version (BB615).

Great basses! Check out this thread: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=222112&
