Cheap cab hunt is on.

Just got back from vacation and had my new(used) amp in a box waiting for me. It's a Kustom DE300 head. Now I need a cheap and good sounding cab. Farting would be my worst enemy. Low string is tuned to A#. Here is a sample of what I'll be playing.

$250 is my budget. There is a Carvin RL810 locally in this range. I'm also on the lookout for a Peavey 2x15. I'll want and need to have the volume to go with a loud drummer and guitar. Based on the clip, cost, tuning and volume needed, Should I be looking at 2x15s, an 8x10, 4x10?

an 8-10 will give you the highest SPL of all those configurations. Speaker size has nothing to do with how low it'll go, that's a factor of the cabinet design and speaker parameters.

This is something I did not know until joining here. FWIW, I did not like the Ampeg 810 I tried in the store. I did like the Kustom Groove 810 way more. I know one is ported and the other is sealed. The 118 pound Carvin 8x10 is a plus.

yeah, you'll have different low end response depending on whether or not the cab is sealed or ported. Both have their plusses and minuses like anything else.

Go with your ears as to what works better for you, only you can decide based on your goals and needs ;)
