I am in the market for a relatively inexpensive fretless bass. I have a very tight budget so I want to keep the price under $300 USD. I've noticed some cheaper fretless basses on musicyo.com, and samash.com, but I am skeptical about their construction, durability, etc. Passive electronics will be fine for now, to keep price down. Thanks.
Hi Ace, Lots of cheap fretless basses out there. Your best bet is to go MIM or MIJ Fender (IMO). The MIM's will be lined, and the MIJ's you can get unlined. Most will be in the $300 range. Doc
For a disposable fretless, the Carlo Robellis at Sam Ash are actually pretty nice. Small body, nice tone, great playability. If you're anywhere near an actual Sam Ash store, I'd recommend that you check them out.
