Cheap Fretless

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by joel the bass player, Dec 3, 2000.

  1. I was wondering about fretless basses. They seem to put out sounds that I would like. I was wondering how the fender standard jazz fretless is compared to a cheap yamaha rbx something or other that I have seen.

In the Bass Player mag shootout the Yam was #1 followed by the MIM Fender. Go play em both and decide.

  4. The Yamaha RBX's are made of alder, the same wood as MIA Fenders. I myself have a Yamaha RBX60 fretless and like it very much, even though I did replace the pickups. Mine can be a little noisy though, but it was worth the $279 bucks I payed.

Cort Artisan B4FL. It's low priced but sounds like a $1000 fretless.
