I need some mroe power (I do not have anything over 100 watts right now) and I was wondering if I should pick up a Carvin Pro Bass 300 head that a friend of a friend is selling. If i can score if for under 200 bucks what are your thoughts? Thanks.

any bad dirt on the Pro Bass 300 I should know about?

i dunno anything about the carvin
what kind of head are you using now?
ps, if you're only using 1 8 ohm speaker now and your head can handle 4 ohms (i dont know of any that cant) then adding another 8 ohm speaker may give you more apparent volume than going from 200 to 300 watts

What are you using right now?

If you get additional power, will you also need a cabinet that handles more power?

Used amps can be found at decent prices on www.musicgoround.com or ebay.

www.musicgoround.com has a Carvin Pro 300 listed at $249.99 so $200 should be a decent price if the head is in good condition.
