Cheap sixers on Ebay.co.uk

    Hi,
    I've been after a six string for a while and have noticed that there are a lot of these now available pretty cheap on Ebay, but they're all made by companies I have either never heard of (and am unable to find much info about) or have nil experience of.
    Has anyone bought any of these basses? are they any good?
    Examples are Shine, Riverside Guitars, Mazeti, CH Guitars. All of these have sixers for sale on Ebay.co.uk at the moment.

    I've had a short lived experience with the Shine basses. They were by all means good for the price. As good as any other import bass in that range.I can't comment on the electronics however.

    I got my Ibanez BTB406QM off ebay for £250, just keep your eyes open :)

    I once had impure thoughts. Oh, and I pluck my ear hair.
    If you see a 6er with the brand name "Indie", it may be worth a look. Bass Guitar Magazine (UK) reviewed it recently and i thought the reviewer was going to spaz himself by the time the article was through.

    I can only imagine that if there are so many cheapo companies out there that cant even get a 4str right, it would be even harder to find a decent 6str. higher tension required, if construction is bad, twists and warps...etc...

    do SX make 6strs?

    "Cheap" six strings are becoming a thing of the past. Rondo Music used to sell the Brice V2 for USD 199, but then it was discontinued. You would do well to keep a lookout for these, but they're going for about USD 250 now, even though they're used! Most new "cheap" sixers are in the USD 300 - 500 range, but every now and then a "heck of a deal" Samick or Ibanez comes up - there's an nice Ibanez 6 BTB on the bay right now.

    Rondo doesnt sell instruments in the UK, also, this is about buying on ebay.co.uk, not .com, so as nice as the BTB 6 string is, i dont think its what the guy who started the thread is looking for :p

    Not entirely correct. :) Rondo does ship internationally these days, if you ask them to. Not via eBay, though. you gotta deal directly with them.

    It's just a question of whether it's worth it when the shipping is more expenssive than the bass ;)

    That is true about shipping being more than the bass, the last time i looked im sure it said they didnt ship internationally, but thats obviously changed :) , my bad!
