Cheaper to buy or build a short scale 12

    I wasn't sure where to ask, decided since you guys know about building basses, would it be cheaper to just build a short scale 12, the only manufactured one that I like is the hamer b12s which at its cheapest was $1600 online

    I convert 4 string Rickenbackers to 5 string basses.

    Building from scratch won't be cheaper, but like Ric5 shows, a conversion might be your best bet. I'd probably start with a tight spaced 5 string though so you have more room to run your string courses on a 4 string triple course. Find a bridge first...

    actually could i just use a schaller 8 string bridge, and 4 maybe 8 of the abm headless single string guitar bridges and be able to use whatever bass i wanted to, kinda like the picture
