Apart from ebay..which they seem to be nearly gone from..at the moment is there any way for getting the new fenders out to europe from the states besides ebay,, musican's friend don't ship etc. Any help appreciated.. I was in the shop the other day playing the jazz and precision, and I have two Js and have always been against Ps, but the new one just blows me away.. fantastic look feel and tone..I need one lol thanks a lot
I'm so desperate for info I will actually bump a thread I only made recently:$..i know embarressing lol
I feel for you. I grew up in Europe in the '80's and buying new gear was prohibitively expensive. I also PM'd you.
You could always try signing up with one of the mail forwarding companies. They give you a USA address to use, so the retailer can ship to there. Then it gets forwarded on to you. I've used these a few times for getting basses and guitars out to New Zealand. They use reputable shipping companies and the rates are usually pretty good, so it doesn't cost much more than shipping direct. I believe some retailers may be wary of the mail forward companies, but I've had no issues so far. YMMV.
hmm that could work, music farm, the ebay shop ship internationally but are currently out of fender 08 bass stock.. shock? lol.. by buying off ebay including shipping and full customs I am still saving about 400 yo yos,, which is maybe $650.. thats how massive the difference is. Edit. Oh and I have two MIJs and they're great basses, but I would love the P to be a US 08, I think they're excellent, and I would like to have just one US fender..maybe thats silly but.. lifes silly
to buy in ireland is maybe 1350 to 1400..to buy from the states without shipping is less then 700..savings are just crazy.. being hit for heavy postage AND customs I think I can still buy off ebay.. when they have them back for under 1k..still fantastic savings
Classfied section, there are couple of them on sale or send me the money I can buy it and send it to u..
same boat. I'm looking for a second hand musicman sub bass or a second hand musicman. Heard these can be found easily in the state and is cheap too compare to the UK price.
Thing is, I just wouldn't be too comfortably sending that kinda money ..blind if you will.. However if anyone was intending on visiting ireland in the next while then they could buy the bass, bring it over here and I would pay them ..very well for it. In this scenario there is a risk that I could just not show and then they are left with the bass, but atleast there is some capital there unlike if I send the money and don't recieve anything..I totally loose. But I can assure you it really wouldn't be in my interest to not pay. I could also possibly get a deal for anyone on accomodation in Dublin city center just throwing it out there!
Actually, your best bet IS to get someone to hand pick one for you and ship it to you. You prepay for it and get it shipped as a private deal. i'd bet there are a number of people from the US who are members here that would do that for you for a reasonable fee. It would be worth it me thinks. What would the difference be from that and buying an advertised bass from a private seller? None that I can think of.
have you any friends in the states? ive sent stuff through people. had a banjo shipped back recently. i got person to write on it that it was worth 20 dollers so i didnt have to pay vat on it. sent it standard post to cost me 80 dollers. i saved a serious amount of cash. maybe if you bought of ebay seller might do that for you. but its risky if it gets damaged. We get ripped of in this country on instruments,
This is somwhere in the middle, but still cheaper than here, http://www.thomann.de/ie/fender_american_standard_pbass_rw_bk.htm BTW, what shop did you see US Fenders for e1400, I was looking last year, and a S1 switch 07 Jazz was about e1800, if I'm remembering correctly.
There is someone on TB who recently posted an ad in the classifieds offerring just this type of service. I would look into it and even contact users who have tried the service to see how things went.
I've done this for a TBer in Cyprus before with great results; PM me if you're interested - I'd be happy to help you out.
due to import prices i decided to look a little closer to good old blighty for my money bass. i ultimately got a status (but i wanted that one eventually any way) but i also tried and nearly came home with a sandberg California series, i really LOVED the feel and tone of that bass (sea foam green P5 with P and MM and 3 band EQ) but i decided with the status and my CIJ fenders it would be greed and GAS that was driving me to buy. clover are really nice basses too both are EU based so the duty will be ALOT less than USA duty
