I just gotta know, do you guys think its safe to check in a bass in a hard shell case? I doubt they will let me gate check it or get it past the TSA area. I don't have a gig bag so it has to be in that hard shell.

The current (2008 - now) Fender Hardshell cases have a TSA lock and I have had no problem checking one several times. Just checked them, received the luggage tag and was directed to take it to the over-sized intake counter where it was received and processed.

At you destination it will be in the stack of over-sized luggage - (usually at the end of the carousel)

    never had a problem.
