It's a Kramer "The Duke." Hanging tag said $200; I offered $100 and walked out with it. Cleaned everything and put on some new strings. Sound really midrangey-- but very cool. I'll get through my main rig tomorrow. So, waddya think?
you gotta love pawn shops! I got an old Kustom Truck & Roll 215 for $100 because "only one of the speakers work, we tried everything." well I took it home & opened it up & usually when only one speaker is hooked up only one works
Dude! It is! How cool is that? It's got hte Schaller tuners too. I know it looks kinda weird, but I like it.
That is pretty cool. I wouldn't mind picking up something like that. Especially for $100, how can you go wrong. Congratulations.
A friend of mine picked one up at a pawn shop too. Gave it to me, I then let my sister-in-law use it. Fun little bass.
my to do list consists of this: get job. go to pawn shop and buy stuff for wicked cheap. do stuff with what I buy.
Hey Killdar, looking at your tag.. Ozzy Osbourne wrote Crazy Train, not Black Sabbath..just thought I'd comment
Here's a review after a rehearsal. I love this bass! It's so light-- almost like not having anything on at all. Great if you like to move/jump when you play. The guys were skeptical at first-- but when I played it through my rig (behringer compressor>swr iod>qsc mx700), they were quite impressed with it's tone-- middy but with piano-like clarity. Excellent for chords. And it cuts through like mad. The lead vocalist/guitarist said that it sounded great-- and he's really picky. I ordered a gig bag from musicyo.com today. It'll say Steinberger on the side, but ***, right.
So many people have commented on it, I think he's just going to continue crediting Sabbath for an Ozzy song.
Now there's a deal!! Don't you just love hearing about, or better yet, finding those gems of a buy yourself?? Hoping I have the 'attach file' procedure correct; here's the Fender "P" - circa 1971, I found at a 'mom and pop' music store. Hanging on the wall with its price tag marked at $75.00; including an old, beat up cardboard case. I put down a $10 deposit and told them I would be back later that afternoon with the rest... got the cash, made the buy, and was a happy person. michael s.
