Check out my New Band

Discussion in 'Recordings [BG]' started by FunkKing, Dec 10, 2005.

  1. Yeah, so anyway, the hip hop/funk group I was playing with sort of imploded, but I've recently hooked up with the Turntablist of the aforementioned band, and after a lengthy discussion, we decided to form a brand new group, just samples and bass. We've done a bit of recording recently, and after a bit of tweaking, we've posted a track on our myspace profile.

    Check it out at www.myspace.com/ubikaredead

I'd be thankful for any thoughts, suggestions etc.

    Cheers!

  2. That's pretty cool. I realize your just riffing, but it'd be more interesting if you'd take advantage of the fact that you're the only actual instrument and mix up what you're playing a bit more.

  3. Yeah, I know what you mean. But basically, I was literally hearing his beats for the first time, so I was just testing the water. Plus, I didn't want to go too overboard, cos he had to fit his scratching in there somewhere. Since then however, I've been working on a few little changes to stick in there, and we're going to lengthen it out a bit too. :)

    Sounds great.

Are the piano parts from Garageband/Reason? They sound hauntingly familiar.

  5. I dunno where they're from. I think he DOES use Reason, but apart from that, I'm in the dark.

We've been working on some other stuff too, its not quite ready yet though, but theres one with a nice little Dizzy Gillespie sample. I'll post it when we're done.

  7. That was really cool, makes me realize how i need to listen to more hip-hop oriented stuff.
