I'm starting to shop for a bass upgrade. I have been playing a German ply bass for the last 10 years. It's a great bass but I'm feeling the urge to upgrade. What are some good bass shops in the Chicago area?

I'm going to see Mark today. Thanks for the tip.
  4. Michelle Fiori at Classic Contrabass has a few in her shop. There's also a440 and a shop in Wrigleyville that everyone talks about but I don't know the name of.

Also, try Steve Reinfranck. His website isn't updated the last time I checked, but it should give you an idea on what he has in stock. The website goes as follows: www.thebluestudio.com/smr

    Hope this helps!

Actually, I just bought a bass from Steve (pics up as soon as I get them) and I couldn't be happier. He was more than willing to work with me, let me try a bunch of instruments in and out of my price range and even let me take one home (about 3 hours south) to try out for a week. That website is a bit out of date, but the phone number should still be good. I highly recomend him.

Also, another good shop to look at is A440. http://www.a440violinshop.com/

    Hope this helps.
