Choosing Seymour Duncan Pickups

I have some questions for discussion:
    • Is it advisable to combine different pickup types in a JJ set? I'm guessing they are designed to work together. I wonder if combining, say, a Quarter Pound bridge pickup with a Hot Stack in the neck position would work or whether this would be severely unbalanced.
    • When they say that the stack pickups can be wired in parallel or series, and in humbucking and non-humbucking mode, are these in terms of the two sets of magnets in each pickup relative to each other, or does it describe the electronic dynamics between the two pickups in the set?
    • Do you think a Quarter Pound bridge and a Hot Stack neck (the latter wired in series/humbucking mode) would sound good and be flexible?
    Thanks for your thoughts.
