{} I've been intrigued by these basses. Their hollowbody looks nice, and that green... Noticed this morning that they're having a sale. The CHB-1 is $561.15 instead of $625.65. Also on sale is the Retrovibe Volante. Attractive bass. {}
Ah, it is a UK company. Only cost about $65 to ship to me in NY though! Not bad. http://chownybass.com/
I heard about them from prowling around on TalkBass. Another of theirs that's generated some feedback is their SWB-1 with it's 30" scale. {}
We'd like to think of it as an alternative. Not a clone. Has many of the features of the Ray for not much more than the price of the Stirling. (Through Body Stringing, Original 1977 Pre-EB Pre-Amp) Plus it's super light. We're at NAMM this month if anybody wants to come check them out.
It's my surname (last name for you Americans) with a "Y" on the end. Blame my parents. They are made in Chennai in India. We're a mid price point sort of company - we'd like to think they represent pretty good value. Shout if you have any questions.
I didn't mean anything by it. The name is fine, just different. These basses look great. Assuming the tone and playability is there, you are going to sell a ton of these!
Man, that’s a great looking bass ! I wonder what the weight is like ? I do 175 or more gigs a year on average .... some years over 300.... so something like this could be very good for the hands, and if it was light enough, very good for the shoulder as well!
