Hey have a case of Christmas GAS. Show us how you did. Here is mine. A brand new MIA Standard Jazz and a GK MB210 combo. Both acquired from GC at really good prices.
I bought myself a Blacktop Jazz at the beginning of the month, and an Epi Valve Jr head about a week ago... That's my gifts to myself. I also told the wife if she really wanted to get my something, I could use a stand so my guitar stops toppling over when I put it down. I suspect there'll be that, too.
Went and bought myself a present.......... Ibanez SR705 Got it at GC. I asked them to open it up and inspect it. I wanted a straight neck. Picked it up and the box was never opened. Great. Not surprised. Well, it needs some fret work. There are about a half-dozen high frets and a slight rise near the 8th. I hope it doesn't need anything more than a few taps to get those frets where they should be. Because I do not have the proper tools, I'm bringing it to the only person I trust with my basses, Pete Flynn, up in southern Wisconsin. He will make it sing. It needs the setup (and beyond) it didn't get at the factory.
Looks gorgeous already that Ibby, I am quite surprised it actually needs that much setup to get where it should have been in the first place. Anyway, I'll see your 5 and raise you mine. Custom built ACG Recurve 5, chambered fretless, in figured maple with bubinga accents, alder body core, plain ebony fretboard (unlined), ACG DFM 5k pre with active/passive switching, East low battery indicator and last but not least two FB humbuckers in a cnc milled figured redwood ramp. I hand picked the woods myself from the builder's stock in his workshop. I think I have seen and played worse. Yes, that is quite the understatement. The man from Moffat is a bass building wizard.
Traded for an aguilar AG500SC and a DB112. Tuesday I'll have a second DB112 and if I can sell the rest of my excess gear I'll be having a DB750 themed NAD .
Seems like I always get myself a little something around this time of year. This year its a Squier VM fretless P.
Since it isn't CHristmas yet--I don't know We try to keep it simple, so we don't spend a lot--so it won't be anything extravagant. Mostly if I get gear stuff it's gift cards--which is cool--as long as it's a store I like. I'm hoping for that this year as well.
I did all my buying earlier this year, MIM P, MIA P, MarkBass amp, ABG, pedals, pedals, pedals. Oh and a Tascam DR40 recorder. So this week I bought a Sansamp PBDDI, MXR Phase 90 both 2nd hand, and a new Boss bass Chorus pedal. I think I'm set for a few years now.
30 yrs. ago I was a bassist in a punk band. We never left the garage. I've kept my bass all these years and have recently started playing again (I still sux). Bass amplification has advanced since 1984. I recently got this for my early Christmas/birthday present (my birthday is 12/26). Fender Rumble 350 bass head Fender Rumble 2x8 cab Fender Rumble 1x12 cab 1993 Korean Fender P-Bass. (Yeah, it says Fender on the headstock-but it also says "Squier Series" in much smaller letters too. Sigh.) The Korean Fender P-Bass and Fender Rumble 1x12 cab I got for a steal on an auction site (less than $300 for both). I didn't think I would win the auction so naturally I had to get a matching amp and another matching bass cab. The black bass is my very first 1st bass. It's a 1984 Japanese Squier.
Half of this awesome 2*12 NEO is a gift from my lady. (The other half is the money from my 1*15 NEO sold. )
My Christmas present arrived today. A slightly used sbmm Ray34. This thing really sounds good and is in near mint condition. Cost roughly half the price of a new one. Very pleased.
^^ I'm a 19MM guy myself but I found it to be an easy transition. I'm not a slapper so I can't really speak in that regard though.
