SO i'm planning with gift money and some ebay sales i've got going to be able to buy a backer upper for myself, i'm look at SX's and i'm stuck on three choices. They'll be backing up my jazz bass, looking for something to keep d-tuned and have more tonal variety

    Choice one:
SX SPJ 62: This one is the P-bass body with the P/J pickup set. Either the sunburst color they've got on rondomusic.net or the red w/ Black pg they have on ebay

    Option 2:
SX SPJ Ash: This one is a jazz style body, same pup config, comes in ash

    OR option 3:
SX SJB-62 4+1 QMD 5 String : Jazz style fiver, the red quilted top.

I've played 5ers in the past but never had the urge to buy one, but if you were me and had enough $$$ to buy 1 and ONLY 1 what would it be?

    But i suck...

  3. i'd go with #1 b/c i do not like the feel and balance of Jazz bodies.

  4. well if youre looking for more tonal variety you would want something different than the Jazz you already have
honestly I would do for the quasi Tony Franklin P/J
but it wont be THAT different it will still have that Fenderlike vibe

as for the SPJ ash do a thread search because I heard some remarks of that 3 bolt neck plate

for a few bucks more you can get this:
    http://www.rondomusic.net/bg205ash.html
if you are interested in a 5 with a more modern tone

    or search eBay
I found a few used Yamaha RBXs
and Ibanez SDGRs in your price range

    or an OLP Stingray copy
If you want a MM style sound to your stable
