All right folks. This one is nearing completion and it's about time for some pictures. Hair looking good. What else is new? Alder blank and stencil. A Zon "inspired" body design with a Pedulla "inspired" pickguard. Hey, don't mess with a good thing. Body cut. Rough shaping with a file. Neck pocket routed. Routed and fully shaped. The pickup config is like a 4-string Thumb. Looking to get some nice growl out of this bass. Back fully shaped. Headstock cut. The neck is from allparts. Black spray paint. Boss. Pencil and string holding the neck for clear coating. Pickguard material and stencil. Pickguard cut and drilled. Centering the bridge. Thanks Bob Fackler. Assembled without electronics to test the string height. On a stand. Light as a feather, plays nice, good sustain. I'll be putting in a pair of active Seymour Duncans very soon and make you all extremely jealous with some sound clips. Stay tuned.
Nice and tasteful...I was thjinking of a bevel like that for my next build....it is just enough to break the monotony.
I've been playing it quite a lot today. It sounds a bit like a Thumb with a little more warmth. I'll post sound clips soon.
Visually it reminds me of a Warwick Flashback with more of an SG styled headstock. I'd love to hear some samples of how it sounds.
