  2. I don't believe that I've ever seen chrome covers for a Jazz pickup.
Provided that the pole pieces are sized/spaced the same as a regular Jazz, your options are pretty much black, white, cream, and wood.

Are pickups on fender guitars the same size as fender basses, or are they smaller due to the fact there are 3 pickups?

There is a chrome spray paint. Get the kind for plastic and blast the black plastic ones

ooooo! that could work... it definetly wouldnt harm the magnet poles in anyway?

  6. You have to take the covers off to paint them...

  7. Just about everything on a single coil guitar pickup is different from a Jazz bass pickup.

Different length, different shape, different mounting style, different screws, different pole piece spacing, different number of pole pieces, etc...

If you bought new covers, you'd have to take the covers off as well.

Depending on how it's done, metal covers can play havok with eddy currents and the tone and transients will be changed. It's often best to just shield the pickup cavities and tie them to the control cavity and leave the pickup face clear and open.

I like what SDG/David Schwab is doing for shielding. I don't know if he's shared that info freely so I won't comment further now, but it's a great way to go. But perhaps this thread is more about looks than sound?

:) well if doing it would compromise the sound i wouldnt do it, and id just buy a fender pickup screw on cover, but an actual pickup cover in chrome would look great.

I knoe nothing about pickups or anything to do with repair etc, i just know how to play it lol!
Im having a shop install my new pickups and bridge as i wouldt ne able to do it, and set the inotation etc

the paint isn't metallic, though. So you can have the chrome look without the magnetic problems

What about lipstick tube pickups? Is the cover like one big pole?

I have a Chrome pickgaurd on my candy apple red J-Bass, and have wanted chrome covers on the pickups too.Have the big chrome pickups on my EB-3, and would like a chrome pickgaurd, but guess it would have to be custom made, never see EB-3 on pickgaurd sites. I'm a truck driver (OTR) and we like to say," There's no such thing as too much chrome!"

I used to hate pick up covers, now I love them. As the seasons change, so do my tastes. lol
