    Smokin playing from a Detroit boy, he played in the same rotation with me at one of the local churches and Ironically I never met him. But he's a good one.

    Sturgill Simpson is one of the Young Turks in the Americana scene. Great voice, impactful lyrics.

    Band looked like they were having a blast - lotta energy. Lead player with a White Falcon Gretsch Billy-Bo instead of his usual Tele.

    That was some badd a@@ playing for SNL.. I have checked out some of his other stuff as well. Dude can rip! Curious about his gear. Usually (from what I had seen) he prefers a Ken Smith 5'er, but on SNL he was playing a pretty old looking P bass with a maple board. Awesome tone
