  1. What's your opinion of his solo disc (name slips me)?

I have a Rainey solo disc from the '70s...the Chuck Rainey Coalition. I haven't spun it in awhile; what I recall, though, is this-
Not as happenin' as any of the sessions CR appeared on.

So, he has a new album out?

I'm a Chuck Rainey fan of sorts. I really love the work he did with Steely Dan. He's a really outstanding bassist.

I met him on a couple of occasions. When I went to school at South Plains College, he came there and did a clinic and also gave private lessons for about a day and a half. I got a one-hour private lesson for either $30 or $60, can't remember which, but it was worth it. Just me and Chuck in a room for an hour jamming and talking bass. He even played my bass and let me play his.
The other time I met him, I was running monitors for a show and he was the Bassist in the band. Can't even remember the name of the guy he was playing for right now.
    Great guy and great musician.
