Happy 79th Birthday Chuck Rainey! Have always admired his work on Steely Dan's stuff among many others.

One of my inspirations...loved his Workshop columns in the '70s-era Guitar Player mags.
This is a Rainey composition. Classic double stops...master of those.

Had the honor to meet Mr. Rainey at the 1991 NAMM Show. A very generous and engaging man. Happy Birthday, sir!

Coincidence, I've just been playing along with this tune the past few days, I just cue up Steely Dan on YouTube and play along with whatever comes up, this is one of the first ones., unbelievable rhythm section, Bernard Purdie on drums I presume? Oh yeah, happy birthday chuck, you're one of the best.

The Chuck Rainey Coalition music is hard to process for me. The basslines are great, but the overall music seems schmaltzy.

    Happy Birthday Mr Chuck Rainey.

I was in high school when I first heard your Grove Merchant and then you were everywhere with Hubert Laws, Cal Tjader, willie Bobo, Eddie Harris.

Chuck Rainey - there is no other. I have never heard anybody else that has that same distinctive propulsion on the low side going on like that.
