I've been trying to find the "right" strings for my current fiver, a DeArmond Pilot with Carvin pups. Tried Lo-Riders, which are cool, but didn't work well with this bass, due to the wrong mixture of mids. Tried TI Jazz Rounds which were almost perfect, except that I finally couldn't handle the B string. So I went to a store that has XL's at a good price, but they were closed. What to do? Aha! The Peavey dealer is just up the street!

So, to make a long story longer, :D I grabbed some Cirrus .045-.125's and slapped them on. They sound good and feel tight, including that slightly skinny B. Good, thick mids that bring definition to my mid-shy bass. If they last well, I'll keep using them. If not, I'll try Elixirs next time. But the B is nice and clear, and that's a big deal to me.
