I'm not sure how much the Clarus puts out at 4 ohm, but I know that my VL-210B's really like to be driven hard. In fact, unless I am going to be pushing them hard at a gig (with my PLX 3002), I very much prefer the sound of my VL-208's, which seem to do better with less wattage. If I really drive them hard, though, the VL-210B's hold their composure better than the VL-208's. Not really a direct answer to your question, but that's all I got! Tom.
The VL210B is more efficient than the straight VL-210. The Clarus will deliver 200 watts into 4 ohms. It will obviously sound good, but within the limitation of 200 watts. I have used a Clarus with an 8 ohm CXL-110 (good) and 4 ohm Wizzy cabinet (better), and the volume was quite good. But I wouldn't have wanted to compete with a loud drummer. It will be a few months (closer to the end of the year) before the 600 watt (4 ohms) Clarus will be available. Wow! So they are going to make those after all! Are there any details available about this amp (size weight preamp etc.)? Thanks!
The plan is that it will fit in the current case and weigh not much more than the current Clarus amps. The prototype has not been made yet, so no more details are available, other than you can expect it to simply be a Clarus with lotsa watts, 600w into minimum 4 ohms. When I know more I'll pass it on.
