Im going back to bass playing after a long forced hiatus and I'm thinking about a good bass combo with all the bells and whistles of the class D technology, i want this for room practice and small rehearsals so portability matters, thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Fender Rumble, GK, and Carvin make some lightweight class D combos off the top of my head. Tone, price, and speaker sizes are all over the map.

What kind of music you play, what size rehearsals you anticipate, budget, and what features you're looking for could help us direct you to something more efficiently.

Check out Gallien Krueger combo's as well. You'll be glad you did. Fantastic sounding amps and they are made in the USA!

Yes, V3 Rumble 100; 200, 500 are all D-Class. The Rumble 100 is Fender's first in house D-Class power amp design. The Rumble 200 and 500 both are ICE Power. All three also have custom designed Eminence ceramic-ferrite drivers. The Rumble 100 1x12 combo is super lightweight at only 22 pounds. The 200 & 500 combos are 36 & 37 pounds respectively.

T.C. Electronic BG250 combos are simply a fantastic bang for the buck... excellent sound, class-D, lightweight, built-in effects and tuner. i have the one with the 12-inch speaker and the horn.... LOVE IT!

i'm usually not about built-in effects... but the ones on these amps sound killer and the TonePrint system... choosing the effects on your smartphone and beaming them to the amp really does work well.

I'm really digging the looks of the Stealth Gray Rumble 100 Combo. The only Fender Combo I've owned was a V1 rumble combo and it was garbage. People seem to have only good things to say about the current V3 combos though.

    Any of these:

I've gone through Rumbles and while I do still have a TC BG250, the GK gets all my play when I need a combo. It just outclasses everything else.

i was on this mission a few years ago. i tried as many as i could in stores. i found the new line of fender rumble amps, the TC electronic BG250's, and the GK MB line to all be amazing. Super lightweight, great power, great tone. i would have been happy with any of the 3, but I found a used (pristine shape) MB212 and couldn't be happier. it is the most expensive, so getting the great deal is the only way I could afford. I did really enjoy the 2x10" and the 1x15" of both the tc electronic and the fender rumble amps though. i actually think i liked the 15's better, if I recall correctly. try to check out all three and see what you like. you are on the right track. i see used bg250's pop up all the time for under $200. a steal in my opinion.

i got my GK for $325, if I recall. If you see a deal like that on a 500watt 2x12, you drive 10 hours round trip in a day to get it.
