    Hello,

I'm currently making a budget for my current build which is a short scale unknown MIJ bass. I drew a new body template while maintaining the original look of the bass. I want it to support a chrome pickup for that classic 60's vibe look (gibson eb-2/rivoli, hofner, etc) I've looked into lace alumitone pickups, they're chrome and i've never heard anyone use them so far.

I don't want a mudbucker pickup, just so i am clear :D It's cool and all but i'd rather have something less big and more small-ish: i.e. thunderbird 60's, hofner, lace.

    Suggestions?

Finding a DarkStar these days is not easy. Here are a couple of other thoughts as far as chrome covered pickups go:

    1. Rio Grande Pitbull http://www.riograndepickups.com/scart/ProductPage.asp?ImageLink=PLN&ProductName=For+Bass

    2. Hanson/Lakland Chisonic http://www.hansonpickups.com/ http://www.lakland.com/chisonics.htm

    3. SGD Mini Neo Humbucker http://www.sgd-lutherie.com/

    4. Lollar Thunderbird Bass Pickup http://www.lollarguitars.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=270

I think my best bet will be either the tv jones or the mini neo as they seem to be a better choice for my bass and look. Tone wise, the tv jones sound beefy yet maintain good mids and highs to it.
