Ok I'm double poasting cuz no one seems to answer the luthier's forum to quickly.

I have an early 80's Peavey Dyna Unity Bass. It's made of koa and purpleheart, no finnish. What's the best cleaner and oil I can use to clean and treat the wood? I've been using Formbey's wood cleaner and Lemon Oil but I can't get all the syrup stains out. Yeah I said syrup. The previous owner had some disaster on the road and sold me the bass for cheap. :D I got rid of most of it but there's some little spots that resist my efforts. Plus there's some finger grime around the volume knob that's penetrated the grain...

Also, I'm not loving the sustain on my top 2 strings. Will adding a string tree help add some sustain?
