Cleaning old strings?

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by Nickthebassist, Sep 20, 2004.

  1. I've seen a few people mention something about soaking strings in summit or other, but I dunno what to type into the search bit, so what do I use to restore my old strings? I have a band practice on Saturday, and want to use my Spector thru neck, but the strings are old and dull, is there any way I can give them a good clean and make them bright and twangy again?

  2. OK, cheers, I just didn't know what to type into the search machine. This thread can be removed now if the mdos wanna get rid of it.

  3. Hi fellow UK bassist, try RS components they sell IPA by the tin ( dont get aerosol!! ) soak strings in a sealed plastic tub overnight, take out leave to dry and you have bright clean strings once more, i soak several at once. Use the IPA again and again, it rocks
