RE-LISTED with price dropped from $2375 to $1900

Weighing in at an amazingly light 7.2 lbs is Clement #413, a beautiful single cut 5 string with a spalted maple top. Specifics are:
    • Passive PJ bass, but body routed for active electronics if upgrade desired
    • 34” scale
    • Swamp Ash body
    • Birdseye maple fretboard
    • Flame maple neck
    • Norstrand pickups
    • 19mm bridge spacing
    • Hipshot tuners
    • Luminous side dots
I own and have owned several basses and this is the best balanced, most comfortable bass I’ve ever had. I bought it because I’ve never owned a passive PJ bass...all my basses are active JJ’s. Plus, I’m a huge fan of light basses, which is the main reason I pursued this bass. I’m very reluctant to sell it but I’ve accumulated too much gear and need to downsize or add an extension to my house. I’ve come to realize that I’m partial to my active Sadowsky JJ basses, 2 Of which are only .5 lbs heavier.

The bass comes with a ProTec Contego Case. I’m asking $1900 including shipping within ConUS. I’m not interested in any trades as I need to reduce my gear footprint.

I highly recommend considering Clement basses if you’re in the market for a custom bass. Tom’s basses are made in the USA (Deland, FL), craftsmanship is excellent and his prices are very reasonable. Also, he’s very responsive and a delight to work with.

Great bass! These things are SO underrated it’s not even funny. Has the built quality of any boutique builder out there, and it’s basically 1/3 the cost! GLWTS!

7.2 pounds. That's just amazing. I have a parts 4 string P bass made of lightweight parts that weighs 7.4.

    GLWTS Gorgeous bass.

I own 2 Clement basses, you can’t do any better than one of Tom’s basses

Yes, the necks have the radius I like and facilitate easy hand movements up and down the scale.

really nice bass. Out of curiosity, what does that little felt pad over the J pickup do?

On my right hand, I play finger style only and I play with my thumb resting on the B String and wrist extended/flexed forward which tends to force my thumb more perpendicular to the string. On some basses, this thumb pressure will occasionally force the string against the pickup pole causing a click or pop. It comes down to poor right hand technique, but I’m an old dog, self taught and have been playing this way for 50 years. I solve the problem with these small rubber self adhesive pads. The pads are easily removable, but don’t effect the pickup performance. Weird I know, but there you go. Most players will never have this problem.

Thanks for explaining. I was thinking the pad would impact the way the pickup functions but it sounds like it doesn't. Also, you technique issue isn't uncommon (I don't think it's poor technique). I play with lower action and have this same issue when I really dig in and play hard. I also tend to play with my right hand angled more toward the neck at times.

Again, great bass. I don't think it will last long.

My Clement PJ is my main bass, my only "Lifer." Mine is only .1 pound heavier. I love how Tom can get such shine out of an oil finish! It's gorgeous, and whoever ends up with this will be a lucky person. GLWTS.

I pulled from the market after a run in 2018 and just re-listed at a lower price.
