Pretty cool! That $40,000 is gettin' close to what they're asking for the 1963 Jaco jazz bass (cept the jazz is not on the 'bay)

    I wouldn't buy it for 400 bucks...
  11. Source? Not trying start anything, but I haven't heard anything on the whereabouts of Cliff Burton's bass...

And I don't quite believe this ebay about "mettalica" or "Kirk Hemmet's brother"
  12. Yeah...the whole "I traded expensive baseball cards for it and have kept it put away for the past 13 years" thing has me feeling a little skeptical right off the bat. That and the fact that Cliff's bass had a chrome bridge.

    Looks brass here,

Still don't believe the auction though.....
  14. It's an Aria Pro! Regardless of who owned it it's not worth even close to that.

How come everytime a famous players bass comes up for sell instantly there is 5 - 6 comments that it is a fake? I'm sure that the seller would have documentation and any buyer that would put up that kind of money would demand it. Don't claim it's a fake unless you have facts to support it. Same thing with the Jaco bass last week.

Doesn't ebay charge a certain percentage of the closing price, regardless of whether the item sells or not? I'm amazed at how people come up with these ridiculous figures for that they think an instrument is worth.

I don't think that this auction has an ounce of truthiness.

Why wouldn't he take pictures of all the documentation and include it in the ebay auction?

    I smell a fake.

if you look really closely you can see some differences
and wouldnt you think that metallica would have kept that to remember him instead of give it back to the company?
