Clipping my amp?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by rancidrancid, Jan 17, 2006.

  1. I have a Behringer Ultrabass 1200 combo,120 watts solid state,4 ohms.
I am going to be buying a used 1,000 watt rms-handling 8 ohm 2x10,the Kappa one from Avatar speakers, and i was wondering how to should handle,I might be able to get my hands on a head for it,but I don't know the specs for it.
I was talking with the owner, and he said he was worried about me possibly clipping my combo,so I just wanted to know.

120w is not very much power for 3 speakers.

if you CURRENTLY think you have enough volume, then you might be O.K. if you often find you don't have enough volume, chances are you will try to push the amp farther than it can go.

for maximum volume potential you might avoid using the "ultrabass" very much, and keep your bass and low-mid near 12 o'clock if possible. extra demands of low-low frequencies eat up watts quickly.

    good luck
