Closest pedal to a B3K that is not made by Darkglass?

What is your opinion on a pedal that sounds pretty darn close to a DK B3K that is not a DK pedal? Thanks!

I've yet to find anything that compares, but my gut would say maybe a tech 21 VT or Sansamp. but then again, my darkglass replaced my old sansamp. IMO, there is no comparison.

They created their own sound with these pedals. If you want that sound get it from the O.G. not someone trying to copy their sound.

That said, the SA Aftershock and Line 6 Helix/HX both have models of Darkglass pedals.
  5. Any bass overdrive with the mxr 6 band eq bumped at ~2khz.

edit: clean low end is also necessary.

The Aftershock gets close but hearing them side by side its actually pretty different. Source Audio made sure to bump/cut at different frequencies than DG so it'd be their own sound.

Nothing else I've tried or heard sounds quite like a BxK series.

Out of curiosity, is there something that makes you want to stay away from buying DG even though you want that sound?

There are clones in the new Zoom B3n and the Line 6 Helix series...

Pike Vulcan can get close with the colour knob all the way to the right, but then again these pedals share some common heritage.

The KHDK Abyss can sound kinda similar at some settings:

aah I remember being in this place years ago. I tried just about every pedal under $150 to try and cop that B3K sound. You can ballpark it but it's not the same...

You may find a great Elvis impersonator...but he ain't Elvis.

I'm sure it's been explained a million times, but for the guy (like me) that isn't in the loop as far as DG/Pike - what's going on with them? Is the Vulcan literally the same exact pedal as the B3K? And I think the Pike's are made in Seattle. Thank you :)

I find that nothing really clones Darkglass pedals. I’m a proud owner of 3 and they all sound very unique.

What's wrong with Darkglass? If you want that sound you go to them.
  19. I'm going along with the "Nothing compares to the Darkglass" company here. Sure, its an investment, but its well worth it. Probably some of the best drive pedals out there. Just bite the bullet and get the real thing.

I can't speak for the op, but possibly the $250 and above prices for new ones is the reason? The Buzz I posted above, imo, is a Darkglass killer because it seems to be a clone of the B3K, but with a much thicker midrange and a much less fizzy high end. I own a B3K and an A/O, as well as a Pike Vulcan xl. And I have yet to find a Darkglass style pedal that sits better in the mix than the Buzz, and I include my real Darkglasses in with that statement. Just one man's opinion though.
