A friend gave me this photoflame SX fretless a long time ago. I made some awful noises with it and put it away. I got it out once to rob the strings from it..

I cleaned it up, cleaned the pots and put on some mismatched rounds for testing. Not sure what to do with it. I don't want to sell it but I don't use it. IMG_20181124_120520476. IMG_20181124_120701756.

Put it back in the closet. You'll figure it out eventually. Nice looking instrument, though...

    It's a nice looking bass.

Is the reason you don't use it because it is fretless? If so, why not swap the neck and give it some play time?

I dig it. I say keep it and use it for having some fretless fun on occasion.

I thought about swapping necks. I had a Mighty Mite neck lying around but the neck pocket is way too big.
  11. So shim the sides of the neck heel until you get a snug enough fit ti try out the neck.

I say “Learn to use it”
It’s too damn nice to be locked up with the moths...
  13. If you don't want to "sell" it, you could just "give" it to me instead. I'd be happy to make some more awful noises with it.

Sell it. No point in keeping something that you don’t use. Use the money to buy strings.

I have an old pair of sneakers I could cut the soles off to use as shims.

Change the pickguard to black, hardware as well, and play the funk outta that thing!

get a wall hanger......it will serve two functions: a good decoration and a daily reminder to "Oh cmon!....Play me!"

  19. There are better ways to give soul to a bass. Normally a side shim would be wood veneer.
