I have tested a tube pre with both B-Amp & Forte as well as Forte HP. It worked fine. Not sure I would ever go to the trouble taking it to a gig. Especially with the Forte HP, as the drive circuit is extremely usable. Perhaps it would be of use with the standard Forte, but just don't see the need with Bamp or Forte HP. But as far as usable, yes, works fine. I don't have a Noble to test, this was an ART.

I did it with my B|Amp, but haven’t since I switched to a HP. Excellent pairing!

thanks for the reply. What did you like so much about the Noble/B|Amp pairing that you felt you didn't need/want with the HP ?
for reference, I am a clean tone player so I don't (typically) use any part of my signal chain to generate OD/drive/distortion. I'm guessing my final signal is not 100% clean, probably has some tube compression due to the Noble and the Class A preamp on the WD800.

I always use a Broughton Superstack that has a 12ax7 in it no matter what amp I'm using. It sounded fantastic when I had a B|Amp, I just love the overall warmth the pedal adds to my tone. I've played some gigs without it and missed it, no one else may hear the difference but it's part of what makes up the tone I like.

I still use the Noble when I need to send a signal to FOH, but at the church I have been playing at most of the time, the Berg HG410 is more than enough. On rock gigs I still use the Noble on the pedalboard for the tube goodness it imparts. Since I got the HP I have been mostly trying it solely to explore more fully the options that the Drive/Comp/Punch, etc offer.

  6. Just wondering if anyone has had any feed back from their Sound Engineer about the B|Amp DI being extremely hot? I have had it on more than one occasion now, (from the same guy) and ended up using the DI from my TH DI instead. Didn't get to look at his desk to see if he had the option to pad it or not. I had a flick thru the menus on the B|Amp to see if I could find a setting for DI output level but couldn't find anything.

Yes, I have gotten that feedback a few times. But have also done plenty (maybe 40) gigs without similar comments.

I regret selling my NV412 it was super loud but i may need that volume if i join this new band.
Although i may just use what i have HDN112 and HDN210
how would a NV115 pair with either HDN cab?(tone wise, volume etc)

  9. No issues with four separate engineers. Of course, that not exactly a representative sample.

I’ve found the B|Amp (and HP) DI to be a really usable signal level. I’m not sure why a sound engineer wouldn’t want a clean/non-distorting hot signal to work with? It should allow for a very quiet/clean (max headroom) bass channel in the FOH, with the ability to lower gain settings on their digital or analog board...

  11. I agree in theory. However if the the lowest gain he can achieve is still clipping the channel, then it is too hot for his desk. Not really thinking it is an issue with the B|Amp - just wondered if anyone had received similar feed back at any point.

Given that it's the same guy I'm wondering if he understands how to use his board. The typical max output of the DI of the B|AMP (and all our amps for that matter), if the input gain is set properly, is about +/- 0.5V or 1Vp-p. Can't imagine his board not being able to handle that. Does he have a trim adjustment knob or pad on it, or mic/line level switch?

I've never had any issues using the line out from any of my Bergantino amps.. I get a lot of compliments on it actually...

I’ve used mine for hundreds of gigs with multiple sound techs as well as numerous studio appearances as well with nary a comment about the DI being too hot.

The Burgundy HDN112 to match my HG410 arrived today. No rock gigs until November, but I plan to intimidate at church in mid-October :D

I think the church can hear it from your backyard. Love the burgundy!

  19. Next time we have him i will try and take the time to have a look and see what's going on. It's a band I fill in with, the keys player mixes and it's usually all a bit rushed.
Didn't want to open a hornets nest as I don't for a moment think it's the amp. Just thought I'd ask here since I was in front of a PC and it came to mind.
