I just realized that I've never posted pics of this bass. I ordered this before the J4 and it is my main 4 string electric. The idea behind it was to have a bass that has the positive aspects of both old school and modern basses.

It has an alder body with a Brazilian rosewood board and 3 piece maple bolt on neck. The pickup is a custom Seymour Duncan dual coil with volume and tone controls. The volume is push/pull to switch from series to parallel. It is about 6.5 lbs.

The bass sounds fantastic and is very comfortable to play. The construction is impeccable.

Thanks guys. One cool thing about this bass is that it is extremely versatile. It can cop everything from a thick and rich R&B slap tone, to a P type tone, to a clean higher register for soloing.

The MJ4 came a few days ago and I got to spend some quality time with it. Plain and simple, the bass just works for me. It has the feel and the tone that I want in a J bass. The construction is fantastic and the neck pocket is perfect. It has a nice fit, and I think it really aides in playability and resonance. There are times when you just plug in and know right away that an instrument has what you want....this was one of those times. I guess it's not something that you can put into words, but you just know.

There are alot of high end Fender inspired instruments available, and I think I've played or owned all of them. I'm not going to say that one is better than another, because, in the end, it is up to the player to decide what is right for them...but I will say that, for me, the M Bass impressed me the most.

It's interesting; the bass is very classy, refined and polished...but it still has that solid, meaty feel that the old 70's Fenders had.

    That's gorgeous mate!
Any chance of a full body picture, or at least a pic of the headstock?

What's the tone like, a bit P Bassy?...

I don't have any more pics handy, but the headstock looks like this one (but one less string):

    DSCF0018.

I really need to take more pics of my gear. ;)

The bass cops a great 'P' tone, and I can also switch the coil tap to get a smoother, cleaner tone. It also has a great old school slap tone.

Those are all nice basses. I have an mj 5 on order, just waiting on a badass bridge to come in. I also have an m3 that is my main bass, it sounds so good it doesn't even need the obp 3 circuit it has. I will put up some pics of it soon when I learn how to do so.

  20. You're going to love that mj. Make sure you post up some pics and specs when it arrives.
