My moollon classic P. just being finished up now. Can't wait to get it in.

 

Should probably upload a picture with the finished bass.

Been playing it pretty much all the time. I think a jazz bass is next in line.

 

I'd love to get a J 5. So a couple questions:
1. Does he use ebony boards on all his J 5's with alder bodies?
2. I emailed them for a price list. Does anyone feel comfortable giving me a ballpark price for a Classic J5?

Hey man. Yea, my buddy in LA just got a Classic J 5 and he LOVES it!! If the price is right I'll hop onboard!!

 

I've picked up a piece of info from supporting Moollon artists. Apparently Joon uses ebony for the fingerboards instead of rosewood for the alder combo because it more closely resembles the properties of pre CBS Fenders.

 

IIRC, Tim Lefevbre might be playing a Moollon. I read this article a few months back and my interest was piqued. It would certainly be nice to try one first. And when I went to one of their dealers recently? There was no sign of any of their basses in stock.

 

K, got a little inside track that gave me a list price on a Classic J 5 = $2890

 

This is the exact bass, matching headstock color and all that should be at my door within two weeks. I'll post when I get it.

WOW that could be a deal! Think of how much you'd spend on a Lull, Low End, M bass, Callowhill, etc. Their list prices all seem to start at about 30% more than that.

Never played a Moollon in person but every time I hear Tim Lefevbre play his P4 my interest is stoked!



Have also had my eyes out for good classic passive P5's, the Fender is attractive for it's price and seems to get a lot of love. Something sexy about keeping all that old P mojo but adding the extended range.

Actually, list cost in the books is a tad less than as quoted above, so I'll chime in here to clear things up, as we're very transparent about pricing.

Since no dealers outside of Korea have decided to yet go out on a limb and carry them, all models are invariably sold to int'l customers directly, and feel free to bookmark the following...you're hearing it straight from the horses mouth

This is direct (Street, MAP, etc.) pricing for 1960s-spec (alder body, handwound pickups, Makassar ebony fret board on one-piece quartersawn maple neck, 20 ultra-thin layers of nitrocellulose lacquer, custom designed Moollon hardware). Matching headstock, metallic finishes, and ash bodies on IV-string models (when "in season") are extra. Free shipping as quoted:

J-Classic IV: US$1990
P-Classic IV: US$1990
J-Classic V: US$2290

Thanks for posting these prices. People have been asking and I didn't know anything more than the prices given to me above. You mention ebony fingerboard. I'm a wee bit confused. At first I was told by a customer that it was ebony, then was told by the builder that I was getting rosewood. Do you use different woods on different models? Based on the pitting of the wood, and what I was told, I'm assuming I have rosewood on my J-Classic V. Is that correct?
