I really like your Bustard pictured in your avatar - is that walnut top? I am looking at a similar set up on a Bustard 6 string - if you had to do it again, would you do anything differently?

Yeah! Its a claro walnut burl top. Super nice looking.

I have no regrets so wouldnt do anything different tbh!

I am used to 19 mm on my previous 4-5 string basses, but that's a wide neck on a 6 string and so the option of 17.5 mm is being considered. Any thoughts?

Yeah he's definitely a top notch guy!

I've played 16,17.5 and 19.

Personally I prefer 17.5 now for most fast playing but 19 is my second favorite. 16 is too tight for me and feels odd to play around.

Very cool! I'm glad you are looking into a bass from Geoff.

My 6 string Bustard had 16.5mm spacing which was decided upon for chordal reasons. It can feel a little tight if that kind of spacing isn't something you're familiar with.

I have two Germaine basses coming soon and both will have 16.5mm spacing.

I'm considering going with 17.5mm on a future bass to switch it up a little bit and see how I like that compared to 16.5mm.
