In light of all the new Stambaugh's being built, I thought I'd just start a new thread for all the killer basses Chris has been building. Do you have a bass built by Chris? Show that bad boy!!

Here's a few pictures of Mark Roberts fanned fret 9 string in progress.

Mine should be done either this week, or next week. (keeps fingers crossed) I'll be doing a full review and interview with Chris in the near future.

What do you own from Chris?

Thanks for posting the pics, Joe. I sure like the redwood on your bass. The figure in it is just going to be so deep once the clear coat is on and buffed. Chris said the figure in the Bubinga on mine will take on more and more definition and depth as the layers of oil/varnish are applied. :hyper:

    Happy holidays to all! :)

Wow Mark, that looks incredible! Is that Chris' first fanned bass?

:) Yes, first fanned-fret and I believe it is also his first 9-string.

    Thank you!

I believe this is Chris's first fanned fret & first 9 string.

Edit: Mark beat me to it.

Here's another bass that Chris built with the same top as Marks.

I'll definitely have another one sometime in the future.. Probably either a 5 or 6 string single-cut.

You know, I've been drooling over your bass since the first time you posted it.

I don't even have my first bass from Chris, and I'm already planning my second. Thankfully, I have a very understanding wife. She even said, "It's really a good price for what you're getting." No wonder I married her. :)

Man, oh, man...it's all about the woods and what the man does with them...another exquisite bit of art with wood! :)

  14. In reversed order. I don't have any of #2 yet. Chris is the MAN. :bassist:

Nice stuff guys. This 5-string fretless has been around the board a bit. I just bought it from D.A.R.K... so I think I'm the 4th TB'er to own it. You've probably seen it before... but I did change the cheap-o looking bart knobs to some ebony knobs to match the fretboard :D

Chris tells me that it's a bit different than what he usually does (not susre exaclty what that means :)). It does have a double truss which is uncommon for his 5-stringers.

I'm planning on hittin Chris for a custom next Summer, and very much looking forward to it. The one he just finished up for Poon is absolutely amazing looking too.

Chris does amazing work for sure.

To any of you guys who I was trying to get some pics for, very sorry. Havn't been able to make it to Chris' place still. It's been a VERY busy last few weeks.

Joe-let me know when you pick up your bass. I'd still like to make the time to head over and meet you.

    Cheers.
    Andy.

  17. Andy, if you do get up(over? down? )there anytime soon I'd love to see some pics of mine too, if it's not too much hassle.

I promise, when I do get over there I'll take pics of your bass, as well as most of the other instruments to show. I have to go over this week one way or the other because Dan, from Luthiers Access, bought some figured red cedar from me for a top that Chris is going to use.

As soon as Chris tells me it's ready, I'm dropping everything and heading up there. I've been preparing for it's completetion. I tried calling Chris yesterday to see how things are going, but he didn't answer the phone, I'll try again today.

I'll shoot you an email when I'll be heading up, hopefully we can work it out so we can meet there. I'd love to have you jam out on my bass before I take her home for worship. I'll give you my cell phone # in the email, just in case.

  20. That certainly should be something!
