    Hello,
I just moved to a new college and was thinking about auditioning for the Jazz/Rock Emsemble. My question was to anyone who has auditioned or is in any type of Jazz/Rock Ensemble. What was the audition like? Should I even be attempting to try out with only a little under 2 years of experience? Also, how does the class work, I'm assuming that you are assigned a peice and then reherse when the class is scheduled?

    Thanks

If you can't read, you would be in over your head.Pieces are generally prepared for those classes but some of the reading can be tricky and occasionally you will need to sight-read.If you have'nt done at least an introductory course in jazz harmony that would be a must to do first.Talk to somebody in the ensemble from last year, see where they're at,skill wise(music education)and see how you stack up.
