colored oil finishes:

    anyone know where i can find colored oils to apply to my tunged oiled bass? i really appreciate any info on colored oil finishes

    I don't know where you're located (your profile gives no clue), but if you're here in the US there's a tung-oil based finish called "Woodburst" with which I've had great luck.

    I've found it at Rockler woodworking stores. If you can't find it locally, send Woodburst an email - they're nice folks.

    The kid's colors are pretty, um, - primary? - but some of the other ones aren't bad at all.

    I used Bing Cherry on my Warmoth Tele body (swamp ash), and was very happy with the results. It's not here right now (my woodworker friend has it for some routing work), or I'd post a pic. All I have here is some scrap ash I used as a finish test which have only a color coat - no additional finish layers of Tung. Quite frankly, they look just like the color samples on the Woodburst site.

    What basic color ware you considering, nunk6?
