Colts Perfect Season?

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by jbennardo, Dec 4, 2005.

  1. Are the Colts going to have to win it all to shatter the 72 Dolphins record or just get enough wins to beat it. With the Colts now playing a 16 game schedule, it would appear they could do this in the playoffs.

Will those old Dolphin geezers complain that they didn't win it all in order to break it? I hope someone does it because I'm tired of watching Mercury Morris drink champagne when a team gets beat.

It's very possible, but I'm not holding my breath. Upsets are rightfully named because they are unexpected and upsetting.

I find it embarassing how the '72 Dolphins players are acting about this. Not all of them, just a few.

When an NFL record is broken, the previous record holder is usually quick to congratulate the new record holder. Not some of these Dolphins players.

I'd be all for the Colts going undefeated, but I don't like Peyton Manning one bit. I never have.

It would be neat to see, watch it will be the worst of the remaining teams that beat them

  6. As a Gator fan, I was a huge Peyton hater. I can't help but root for him now. He's just such a student of the game. His preparation is unbelievable.

Besides, he's funny as hell in those Mastercard commercials.

  7. As an LSU fan, I had the same feelings about him in his college days. However, man, the dude is just a machine, you gotta just watch and shake your head in wonder at the whole team, but he's just outta the park. Classy guy too.

The whole Manning family actually is, I also grew up a Saints fan in the Archie-era, and even competed against one of Archie's nephews in little league ball - Archie used to show up at practices and scrimmages from time to time, very polite and kind, took the time to say hi to ALL the kids that were playing, both sides at the scrimmage.

I agree on the MasterCard commercial too...I love the one where he gets the waiter to give him the apron, then immedately puts it on. :)

On topic: I think they have the horses to run the tables, as long as they stay focused. However, Dungy has already said that if they sew up home field, he will sit his starters the last game. I hope they do it, for Dungy, if nothing else. He's a true good dude, one of the few, and a great coach.

  8. I still stand by something I said last year around playoff time: Peyton Manning is the new Dan Marino. He will break all kinds of records but he will never win a Super Bowl. He can't win the really big ones IMO. My $0.02......

vegas odds already, colts against any team in the league in the SUPER BOWL, 11-1 odds. How can you hate on peyton manning, one of the most respectful amazingly talented quarterbacks to play the game. Quarterbacks dont win superbowls, we have the deepest team in the NFL right now.

  10. I'd just like to clarify that I don't hate Peyton. Granted I'm a Pats fan so I don't love him either! Put some playoff pressure on him and get him out of a dome and he can't seal the deal.

In the Colt's case the QB can win or lose the Bowl for them since he calls most of if not all the plays, right?

A couple of years ago, when I think the Patriots were on the verge of doing ths,,,the dolphins codgers bitched up a storm, openly saying they thought it would be disrespectful, if the feat was accomplished...

He also never beat the Pats before this year. Things change and performances from previous years are not always indicators of the future.

In a world gone mad where the White Sox won a World Series for the first time in a 80 odd years, the impossible (in this case, the very possible) is possible.

  14. This is true...but...I don't think that the Pats are playing at the same level that they have been in the previous few years either. Hey, anything can happen right? I still think that Peyton Manning is a great quarterback playing indoors or warm weather. Come December/January things change for him. He's not a mudder and there is something about playing in a dome that makes the game less exciting for me.

  15. Yeah it was probably '98 when the Broncos almost did it. It was MNF and once the game was over, they showed the retirement home and the 72 Dolphins toasting.

It's not sour grapes and my problem isn't with the Dolphins. Heck, that's quite a fraternity and something not a lot of people get to share on any level. It just seems that a few of them are pretty smug about it.

I agree that the Pats are sucking this year. The O line isn't allowing Brady his usual half hour in the pocket and he isn't much without a good O line.

The Colt only have one non-dome + cold weather game left on their schedule, Seattle. Other than that, their playoff games will have home field advantage.

  17. Yeah, between injuries to key players and losing Crennel and Weiss they have their work cut-out for themselves.

  18. Colts would get slaughtered at Mile High..... :D ( I'm sure Abark knew that was coming.... :D )

I don't think they will go undefeated at all. If Seattle doesn't beat them , someone in the playoffs will. It would definitely be cool to see the Giants beat the Colts....I can only imagine dinner at the Manning House :

Momma Manning : Eli! Why can't you be more like your big brother, he's undefeated!

I think that the Chargers could pull it off too.....Don't ask why I don't really know but I get one of those feelings... :)

I like Peyton. Archie strikes me as arogant.

Believe or not, I was rooting for the Horsies to beat the Chiefs. That was by far the best game that I saw yesterday. Neck and neck until about the last 5 minutes.

Meh. Too bad the Broncos will do just bad enough to get a playoff spot sans homefield advantage. Your altitude won't save you when the Broncos play the Colts.

Sorry Page, but the Chargers have already lost this year (4 times) I don't think they will be able to be undefeated. :D
