Common wiring inside jack plates?

At least one schematic I've looked at (not all cabs seem to offer them, at least on various web sites) indicates that the Speakon connectors, banana plug, and 1/4" phone jacks are all essentially wired together. This certainly makes sense, I'm just wondering if it is common.

I have one speaker cabinet with Speakons and 1/4" and one with 1/4" and a banana plug. I wanted to run them parallel. I'm guessing it is okay to run Speakon from the amp to the first cab and then 1/4" from the first cab to the second cab. I'll admit to being a bit chicken about just plugging it all in and throwing the switch, though.

    Comments?

  2. Should be okay, and pretty common I think. It's easier to jump all the i/o jacks at the panel instead of running separate wires to all the speaker terminals. You can check this with a mulit-meter.

The only thing it will really do that you have to be careful about is it will change the impedance by connecting another cabinet.
