Comparable Basses to Yamaha BB3000S

Hi TalkBassists! Maybe this is an odd question, but I am looking for a new (or used) bass. I have pretty much exclusively played my lovely Yamaha BB3000s for 35 years. Every other bass feels weird, but as I age, I'm looking for something lighter to wear, something easier to shlep around the city. I've been playing a bunch of basses at retail and none of them feel right to me. Any suggestions? Should I be sticking with Japanese/MIJ basses? I like my electronics simple and the neck slender by the nut. I know there are some specific Yamaha clubs and posts here, but some of them have been going on for years and are tough to sort through. I believe it's 8 or 9 lbs, which is not outrageously heavy, but my oldman shoulders and neck need something slightly lighter at this point!
