Compression boxes

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by Garrett Mireles, Jan 28, 2003.

  1. How do they effect your SFX?

Say...if you're running Wah with Distortion, and you crank up the compression.

Does it give it a tighter sound?

I heard a recording of Cliff Burton playing...his wah sounded like it was eating itself, someoen said he used a compression pedal.

    Thanks :D

Generally compression adds sustain to the sound. By having my compressor before my distortion pedals I can get extremely long sustaining tones without having to crank the gain that much.

  3. Sustain as in...ringing notes?

And what if the distortion is BEFORE the compression? Any difference?
