Compression question

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by cliffburtonfan, Apr 13, 2004.

  1. Alrite, having recently just got hold of a little compressor im looking to emulate that billy sheehan pinch harmonic sound (u no the one that practically pierces your eardrums?)

My question is, what levels do i need to set my compressor to in terms of level, attack, sustain etc, to achieve this soud?

I use a CS 3 Compressor/Sustainer with the following settings:
    - Level: 7
    - Tone: 5
    - Attack: 5
    - Sustain: 10
With that setting, I find that producing any kind of harmonics (pinch, tapped, lefthand muted, and hammer-on righthand muted) really ring out. I have also used a parametric EQ to really zero in and boost thoughs harmonics even further.
