    I like it.

I've got a bass about to be built out of dyed (then acrylized) birdseye maple. Mine's more a purple red though.

This will be a six with birdseye accent pickup covers and knobs. Fretboard birdseye (acrilyzed). I am thinking chrome hardware for the color. I do not think gold will cut it.
GW is building mine. Who is building yours James?
  4. I think it looks awesome.

    Fred @ Bee Basses.

It's GW's maple burl that got me the bug for this one. the color is of a top set Larry sold him last summer.

Here is a thread with all the specs and an image or 2.

The dyed burl in the image in that thread is from here

Which shape? He seems to do real nice work. I went brushed silver & chrome on hardware myself. I'm not a gold hater, but I don't think it would work for mine either.

    thats a gorgeous top

this that kinda wood i would opt for:

that top, with matching pickups covers ( a backing plate matching the actualy body slab wood) a matching headstock, i'd get black enony board, black fretwire, blue LED fret marks on the top of the neck. black hardware. and if possible, some matching dyed birdseye knobs. i think that would be amazing!!!!!!!!!!

ps: please take what i said seriously!
  10. looks like somebody threw up a slurpee.

I appreciate the input. Here are the specs I am proposing:
    Body: swamp ash
Neck: 9 piece maple macassar and such
Top: you guessed it (slurpee top, I found this comment very funny)
Pickups: custom wound KA's with birdseye covers and maybe a birdseye ramp.
    Knobs: birdseye
    Hardware: chrome
Fretboard: birdseye with matching block inlays from the top with a bass clef inlay at twelve
Electronics: Aguilar obp3 with active passive switch

Despite this, I think it's a beautiful piece of burl, and I love the color!

I think it's awesome! Is it going to be a singlecut or doublecut?
